Dear Apprentices, Families and Citizen Teachers:

We are very excited to launch Citizen Schools at First Avenue Elementary School this fall!  Citizen Schools will extend the learning day and fill it with academic support, leadership development, and hands-on projects that improve achievement and make learning fun.

In order to set the proper atmosphere for success in and out of the school environment, Citizen Schools provides well trained and dedicated educators called Team Leaders to serve as resources to First Avenue's young people. 

In addition to our dedicated Team Leaders, we recruit volunteers from the community to share what they know and love with kids in real-world projects by leading apprenticeships. Our apprenticeships bridge academic content with career explorations that provide our students exciting opportunities to develop 21st Century Skills. We will provide our participants with more time for learning, more relevance, and more adult role models. 

We are truly looking forward to building strong relationships with our First Avenue Community and preparing our young people for a bright future.
