Ms. McDaniel is the Citizen Schools Parent Liaison at Louise A. Spencer Elementary School in Newark, NJ.

I have also been talking to other Parent Liaisons in other schools where Citizen Schools is and they all feel that Citizen Schools has made a big impact with our students.

It is unfortunate, because a lot of parents don’t see the benefits because they are not as active. But, since the last WOW!, there has definitely been more investment from students.

This program has really given our students something that they have not had in a long time.  More and more, students are starting to feel safe and comfortable staying after school because they know that the staff really cares about them.

I’m really glad that my kids have the opportunity to experience this.
