78 Houston Non-Profit Organizations

“Touchdown Houston” charitable giving program impacts all 11 counties of Houston

HOUSTON, TX (Feb. 2, 2017) – Touchdown Houston, a charitable giving program created by the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee (HSBHC) in partnership with the NFL Foundation, will contribute $4 million in grants to 78 local, non-profit organizations, it was announced today. A long-term contribution to the city, these grants will leave an impact on all 11 counties of Houston by concentrating on three key areas: education, health and community enhancement. $1 million of the $4 million in grant funds were provided by the NFL Foundation. The grants will be administered through the Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF), the Official Administrator of the Touchdown Houston Charitable Fund and one of Houston’s leading philanthropic grant makers.

“Our goal is to extend Super Bowl LI’s positive impact far beyond Super Bowl LI and help further the mission of providing equitable opportunity for all Houstonians,” said President and CEO of the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, Sallie Sargent. “The $4 million in grants provided by the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee’s charitable fund and the NFL Foundation will allow Houston-focused, non-profit organizations to deepen their charitable initiatives in the community and enable the continued success of Houston.”

The Host Committee welcomed non-profit organizations across Houston’s 11 counties focusing on community enhancement, health and/or education to apply for grants until July 2016. Grant focuses include anti-poverty, dropout and homeless prevention strategies, neighborhood improvement, early childhood education, after-school programs, health care and food access and youth physical fitness and wellness.

“We are proud to leave a philanthropic mark in Houston and help local organizations expand their impact on communities throughout the city,” said Executive Director of NFL Foundation, Alexia Gallagher. “The grants provided by the NFL Foundation and Houston Super Bowl Host Committee will ensure Super Bowl LI’s legacy extends beyond a game, and will help the city thrive long after a Champion is crowned.”
