New STEM Report Highlights Citizen Schools

The Case for Being Bold: A New Agenda for Business In Improving STEM Education A new report outlining the path American businesses should follow to ensure the success of science, technology, engineering, and math (known as STEM) education includes multiple references to Citizen Schools.  The report was released on April 13th at a national summit of business and education leaders hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for a Competitive Workforce.  The study explains what U.S. businesses should do to secure American economic health for generations to come by preparing U.S. students for the workforce of the future.

The report refers to Citizen Schools as a key strategy to rethink the teaching of STEM skills and calls for businesses to let their employees volunteer.  It also suggests that businesses should encourage school districts to bring in STEM professionals to teach in the classroom part-time.
