What does it take to become an engineer?  Well, Ivy Hill Middle School Solar Car apprentices could tell you thanks to Merck employees and Citizen Teachers, Venkat Packiriswamy (featured above right) and Jennifer Sandidge.  This past semester, apprentices have been learning about the ins and outs of solar energy and automobile engineering.   Recently, apprentices had the special opportunity to share their work with Merck Institute for Science Education employees, Joe Maglaty and Margo Bartiromo, including explaining technical engineering concepts, freely discussing the different types of engineering, and the steps it takes to become an engineer.
