If you could reimagine education, what would it look like?
Would it be an education ecosystem that fosters a learning environment that is student and relationship-centered, safe, and inclusive—where students feel valued not just as participants but as contributors in the classroom and beyond?
Would it be one where students develop the capacity to communicate their learning, and where they are inspired by community volunteers/mentors to explore endless learning opportunities, careers, and pathways?
Would it be an ecosystem where educators have access to professional development that involves:
One-on-one thought partnership and personalized coaching?
A place where they can develop and/or enhance strategies for bringing curriculum to life?
Engagement with the community to enrich their own learning, and that of students?
If you are interested in exploring this reimagined and transformative education ecosystem for middle school students, we invite you to join Citizen Schools for one of our upcoming two-day workshops—in California, New York, and Massachusetts. Our workshops provide you with first-hand experience of how learning can, and must, be different, to better the academic and social emotional outcomes for our students.
Knowing that this work is best done in thought partnership and in collaboration, we encourage you to bring a team to the workshop, to collectively immerse yourselves in this experiential learning experience and explore not only what this transformative educational approach would look like at your site, but also how it will better student outcomes and transform not only classrooms, but the school community as a whole.
Our workshops are inspired by the Citizen Schools Educator Development program, which is designed to support middle school educators—in school and out of school—in fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment that is asset based, provides tiered support, and access to development relationships that are critical to student well-being and success.
