Celebrating Our Students: December 2019 WOW! Week Recap
WOW! Week is a celebration of our students’ hard work from their apprenticeships. Over 10 weeks students are transformed into website designers, lawyers, and financial advisers, learning how their current academics apply to a future pathway. During this celebration, communities of family, friends, and volunteers gathered to view our students’ talents and skills through interactive presentations.
Our two New York campuses held themed showcases to celebrate these accomplishments. Renaissance School of the Arts’ GAME ON theme kicked off the night with dance performances and an award ceremony celebrating student and citizen teachers’ success! Following the show, families were presented with the opportunity to learn more about teeth impressions, their knowledge on healthy food choices were tested, and attendees were blown away by students’ coding skills. Teach backs were given from apprenticeships such as Google Eat Smart, Lego Robotics, and much more.
The halls of Benjamin Franklin Health & Science Academy was transformed into a “Cat In The Hat” theme bringing to life the idea of limitless fun! In attendance were community members, families, teachers, and local business owners coming together to acknowledge students’ hard work. Citizen Schools’ students were able to shine as they presented their one-of-a-kind business pitches and Coding Academy websites. Each student presentation represented the Citizen Schools values of JOY and PRIDE.
Thank you to all of our Citizen Teachers who gave their time and talent to teaching our students!
