Natalie Miller’s Salemwood Middle School "reporters" exceed her expectations
With several apprenticeships under her belt, Massachusetts Citizen Teacher and reporter for the Malden Observer, Natalie Miller has been WOW!ed by her “reporter” apprentices over and over again! In a recent article in the Malden Observer, Natalie proudly recalls her first experience listening to her journalism apprentices present what they learned to their parents and guests in the gym at the Salemwood Middle School. Last Tuesday night, at the annual Citizen Schools’ event at the Westin Copley Hotel, Natalie’s Salemwood “reporters” WOW!ed the audience again, only this time the crowd consisted of over 500 Citizen Schools supporters. Here’s what Natalie had to say:
“Was I nervous for them? Absolutely not. I have already seen first hand what these students are capable of, and each time they manage to exceed my every expectation. When I walked out of the ballroom at the Copley Hotel Tuesday night, I felt extremely fortunate to have had the chance to positively affect the lives of the students in my apprenticeship the last two years, and equally honored to call myself a Citizen Teacher.”
