Over 100 employees from AB have taught apprenticeships since 2010. Through this strong partnership, our students have had the incredible opportunity to forge bonds with a team of caring adults, who we hope, will help inspire them to discover and achieve their future goals.
Citizen Schools CA is proud to be partnering with 7 schools this year across 3 districts: Oakland, San Jose and Redwood City. Our team of 7 Campus Leaders and 30 AmeriCorps Teaching Fellows will join 350 volunteers from our local communities to serve nearly 1,400 students this school year.

Citizen Schools National Teaching Fellows create extraordinary enrichment and academic support experiences for the students we serve the nation. On a daily basis, Fellows deepen connections between schools and parents, help to develop social-emotional skills through mentoring and coaching students, and facilitate hands-on learning opportunities through our apprenticeships.

Their work equipping young people with the skills, access, and beliefs to succeed in college and career inspired Michelle Carter to make the leap to Boston, relocating from her North Carolina hometown, and help re-imagine the learning day in support of students across the country. Today, Carter serves as a Talent Business Partner and has supported staff in all six of the organization’s service regions.
