Carbon Footprint with Cisco
Citizen Teachers: Volunteers from Cisco
Teaching Fellows: Mr. Shafsky and Mr. Jackson
Students: Johanna, Bryan, Eric, Arturo, Gabriel, Liliana, Mya, Jade, Veronica, Monica, David, Fanny, Aryanna, Yamileth, AJ, Jazmin, Jayden, Janessa and Jasselle
Purpose: For students to learn about the concept of a carbon footprint as well as exposure to some Cisco systems technology and facilities. With a team of Citizen Teachers from Cisco, students created project ideas and plans around how they would address climate change and reducing their own carbon footprint
LEGO ROBOTICS
Citizen Teachers: Volunteers from James Wesselman
Teaching Fellow: Mr. Hassan
Students: Kylie, William Gabe, Janely, Genesis, Jose, Diego, Audrina, Daniel, Moises and Dillon
Purpose: Students learned the basics of the control and design software. Then were able to create their own design buildit themselves and compete agains other designs in a race type challenge.
PUBLIC SPEAKING WITH GOOGLE

Teaching Fellow: Ms. Hiraldo
Students: Aryanna, Yamileth, AJ, Jazmin, Kevin, Edgar, Natalie, Miriam, Stephany, Alexis, Vanessa, Bryan, Angelynne, Alize, Lucianna, Samantha, Anthony, Yarely, Kevin, Madisen and Tylor
Purpose: To have students learn and practice skills around public speaking. Students created an oral story they wished to share and practiced speaking it publicly.
SOLAR CARS
Citizen Teachers: Volunteers from John Stallings
Teaching Fellow: Ms. Hiraldo
Students: Esmeralda, Zaida, Camila, Melissa, Alexandra, Jesse, Italia, Samuel, Juan and Aaron
Purpose: Students learned how a solar car works, exploring aerodynamics as well as basic concepts in physics. They were then tasked with designing a car, which they got to test out at the end!
LUNCH TIME FLAG FOOTBALL
Lead: Citizen Schools Campus Director Tyler Shafsky
Students: Jackson, Manuel, Bryan, Arturo, Valeria, Alexandra, Adriana, Miah, Italia, Alan, Samantha, Miguel, Ricardo, James, Shakir, Jordan, Robert, Hector, Eduardo and Daniel
Purpose: To provide an outlet for students during lunch that was productive. Students needed to reach certain behavior and grade requirements to participate. Eligible students signed a contract and join a team, playing rounds of flag football tournament style.
