Citizen Teachers: Ms. Madison (PS 157) & Ms. LEi (RSA), NYU Dental
The Smiles for Miles apprenticeship introduces students to the world of teeth and oral health. Students began with exploring these unique little white tools inside our mouths and how they are formed. After getting familiar with tooth anatomy, students examined what happens during a dental visit. They became experts on oral hygiene and what it takes to keep our teeth clean and healthy. Students also learned about the consequences of not keeping teeth healthy, such as cavities and root canals. Finally, they explored braces and orthodontics to figure out what exactly they do to teeth.
